Is Tony Romo Better Than Troy Aikman?

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) – While hocking chicken wings at Wing Stop appearance in south Texas, former Dallas Cowboys QB  Troy Aikman actually said he thinks current Cowboys gunslinger Tony Romo is better then he was.

What the what??

“I think Tony already is a better quarterback than I was,” Aikman told a reporter from the Brownsville Herald  “I know how quarterbacks are judged, but as far as his play-making ability and the things that he is capable of doing, he is a far more athletic quarterback, capable of making more plays than I ever was able to.”

Romo played ‘hide and go seek’ on his bachelor party. U tell me who is better?

I think Troy was acknowledging Tony’s scrambling ability.. and that athletic ability lends to good things in the play action.. Tony can extend plays well with that ability.. He is a great athlete.. But let’s be real.. Troy’s timing and accuracy is legendary. Those teams in the 90s were FAR better and deeper than any before or after them.. so while there is a case to be made that those teams made each player look better than they really were or would look today.. Aikman is a legend.. and Tony Romo is still Tony Oh-no until he can prove otherwise. Way too many 4th Qtr melt downs and choke plays throughout his career here.. I believe troy to have been a much SMARTER player than Romo, and that is HUGE.. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see Romo as a Super Bowl contending QB. Tony needs to make the plays in the big games before I can believe in him. Troy found a way and MADE those plays.
