SAN SABA (AP) — Investigators say a caretaker and the retired businesswoman she worked for have been slain in Central Texas and two suspects are being held.

San Saba County Sheriff Allen Brown said Tuesday that a man and his common-law wife are charged with the murder in the death of 50-year-old Karen Johnson.

Johnson’s body was discovered Sunday by her 12-year-old son at the home of Bonnie Harkey, about 190 miles southwest of Dallas. A day later, the 86-year-old Harkey’s body was found buried in Leon County, nearly 200 miles east.

Brown says Carl Wade Pressley and Lillian King are facing kidnapping charges related to Harkey. Attorney information was not immediately available.

Harkey owned a pecan farm. Brown says Pressley and King knew the suspects, but declined to say how.
