Perfect Attendance Will Equal New Car For FWISD Student

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The Fort Worth Independent School District is offering the ultimate reward — for a teenager — to high school students with perfect attendance.

The “It’s Cool to Stay in School” attendance incentive campaign is offering students the chance to win a new car.

One lucky student will win a Dodge Challenger.

But the contest isn’t just an ordinary raffle. The Cool to Stay in School incentive is only open to Fort Worth ISD students in grades nine through 12 and students can only enter if they have perfect attendance for at least one six-week grading period.

Given that attendance is tabulated each six-week period, students with perfect attendance in multiple grading periods will be entered multiple times, and thus have more chances to win. Attendance records for the entire 2011-2012 school year will be considered.

Drawings will be held on each Fort Worth ISD campus and 15 district-wide finalists will be chosen. Those students will then be entered in the final drawing which will be held on May 22.

Government schools are prisons. They don’t educate, they indoctrinate- creating obedient, conforming cannon fodder, to be sacrificed in the Empire’s future wars of aggression. The less time you spend there, the healthier and more productive your future will be. Don’t get sucked in by these superficial incentives.

Obedient, conforming adults who show up on time ready to work? What employer doesn’t want that.

Remember kindergarden? It was the best artists who could stay inside the lines. The scribblers didn’t grow up with the discipline to be artist later on.

The ability to break the rules and innovate first require an understanding and adherience to the rules. Even science teaches that order does not come from choas, rather for order adapting choas into new orders of stability.

Uh, yeah…. and who is going to pay the insurance on these vehicles?

Yo Yo..some high school kids actually have jobs. Did you ever think of that? Apparently, you don’t know anything about that do you?

    2. Whitney says:

I worked since I was 14…..hopefully those kids can pay their own insurance….

Well since they wouldn’t have a car payment, paying a bit more for the car insurance shouldn’t bother them if they have a job. If they already have a car, they could always sell their current car and if it was worth enough that sale may allow them to pay for a year or two’s worth of insurance no problem. That should give them plenty of time to find a job. They are going to need one quick though with the pirce of gas.

Our local school did something like this. The “new” car turned out to be like a 9 yr old Plymouth or something of equal non-value. I like to think the winner tossed the keys back to administrators and walked out.

Its a great idea and a great incentive to the students. My son will graduate in 2 months from high school here in Canada with perfect attendance since the first day of kindergarten and the only prize he will get is from me that he asked for the last day of grade 2 when his teacher told him he had never missed school and he said mom if I can get to grade 12 will you give me $1000 for university (he has since changed it to a mac book which he said he needs for university).

I hope they really mean new. Just for chuckles I checked the Highway Safety Institute for the ratings on a Dodge Challenger. Any model prior to 2012 received horrible ratings for a car for teens. Only the 2012 model rec’d a good rating. If my child and it was 2011 I’d give it a pass.
