DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police say they are searching for a body of an 11-year-old boy who may have been killed as much as a year ago.

Department spokeswoman Sherryl Scott said the boy’s grandfather called police to say he was worried about the child. Scott said the man told investigators he had not seen his grandson in nine months to a year.

Police then interviewed the boy’s father and stepmother, who were identified as Aaron Ramsey, 34, and Elizabeth Ramsey, 31. Scott said the two gave conflicting stories about the boy’s welfare –– they were then taken into custody.

Neighbors of the Ramseys describe the couple as odd.

Beau Hughey, lives down the street from the Ramseys and had done some work on their house.

“They’re just kind of secretive,” Hughey said.

Hughey says his son used to play with Ramsey’s son but he could not remember the last time he saw the boy.

Rita Woodruff, whose house backs up to the Ramseys said she had only seen a boy there once or twice last summer. Woodruff said he looked unhealthy.

“His little arms were just thin, you know too thin for a 10 year old child,” Woodruff said.

The boy’s mother lives in another state and told investigators Aaron Ramsey would make up stories about where the child was when she called to speak to him. The boy’s grandfather said the same thing.

After more interviews with the suspects, Scott said the department now believes the child –– named Johnathon Ramsey –– was killed. Both parents have been charged with injury to a child.

Scott said investigators believe the child’s body was dumped somewhere in Ellis County.
