48,000 Square Foot N. Texas Mansion Sells At Auction

HICKORY CREEK (AP) — A Texas mansion modeled after a French landmark has sold — but neither the purchase price nor the buyer’s name is being revealed by the auction company.

New York City-based Concierge Auctions said Monday that the 48,000-square-foot mansion called Champ d’Or sold Friday.

The mansion, modeled after Vaux-le-Vicomte outside of Paris, is located in the small town of Hickory Creek, on the shore of Lewisville Lake. The mansion cost $46 million to build and includes a grand ballroom, a movie theater and a tea room modeled after New York’s Tavern on the Green.

Alan Goldfield, the retired founder of cellphone wholesaler CellStar, and his wife, Shirley, built the house. He says they’re happy to “have found a family who will love Champ d’Or as much as we have.”
