Report Says Mavericks & Odom To Part Ways

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – Early reports are saying that the Dallas Mavericks and Lamar Odom have reached an agreement to “part ways” immediately.

According to sources, the Mavs management team spent Easter Sunday setting up the deal that gives Odom the option to leave Dallas without being officially released. The Mavs still have the rights to trade Odom. No official statement has been released by the team.

He and the Mavs have been at odds since he became a part of the team in December of 2011.

In a statement, Odom says he’s sorry the relationship didn’t work out, and he wished the team well.

Odom, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaged 6.6 points, 4.2 rebound and 20.5 minutes in his 50 games for Dallas. All were career lows.

I guess Mrs. Odom didn’t like being away from her family. Any dude that marries into that family better be ready to be second fiddle to that weird family.

this is not surprising..he didnt pay much and when he did, he seemed unhappy..he spent a lot of time “away” from the team..i dont like “khloe and lamar”, but i happened to catch it last night and the topic was the move to dallas..he seemed very unhappy and mrs kardashian odom was the one saying ok lets do it..who knows,..on “reality” tv anything can happen as in “reality” basketball!!!

They just showed us that they are what they seem to be… “spoiled brats”. I had hopes that they would be an asset to the community when Khloe began doing good things with charities here in Dallas. Sorry to say I was wrong.

I think a lot of people are speaking with rejection feelings. I do not think that Lamar had any hard feelings for Dallas. What I do think is it must be very hard to be rejected by a team that you thought of as a family, (by being traded) and expected to act like you werent betrayed. I have had the rug jerked out from under me before and I tell you it feels like you have had a sudden death in the family. Lamar seems to be a very sentimental person and to suddenly be what seems to be betrayed by what you thought was family is a lot to take in. I feel him leaving will eventually realized a mistake on both parties, everyone needs a chance to grieve a death. I know everyone says, but he was paid a lot of money as tissues to dry those tears, but if you all were honest with yourselves you would realize that money doesnt solve and releave your pain.
