Grade School Siblings Donate Big Bucks To Playground Project
PROSPER (CBSDFW.COM) –The Town of Prosper is raising money to build a new playground at Frontier Park, which opened next to Prosper High School last year.
And an eight-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother are now among the big donors to the playground project.
Last week Londyn and Kingston Ogletree each contributed $500 to the fundraising campaign.
The siblings had done chores to earn the money for an upcoming family trip to Disneyworld. But instead of spending it on Mickey, they decided to keep their money at home.
Their grandmother says the donation was Londyn’s idea. Shelly Van Blarcum said after Londyn told her about it, she suggested they set up a meeting with the town manager.
Instead, Londyn decided she wanted to tell the Town Council herself.
So at the council meeting on April 10, Londyn walked to the podium and presented the $1,000 to the mayor.
Prosper wants to raise $250,000 for the playground project. The town is only about $25,000 away from that goal.
