Elderly Richardson Residents Ripped Off By Unknown Thieves
RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) – Two men and a woman are wanted by Richardson Police for an elaborate hoax that has area retirement centers on alert.
At least 4 theft victims, who live in two Richardson senior living centers, have been hit by the trio.
Richardson Police say last month the three used a clever but sinister plot to get inside the rooms of residents and rip them off.
Sgt. Kevin Perlich says the woman entered both The Gardens and The Wellington senior living centers, where she passed herself off as someone’s daughter.
She even hugged and kissed one of her victims before leaving.
In one instance, an elderly victim was in a game room when the thief stole her room keys right off her walker.
The 4 victims have lost expensive jewelry, cash and credit cards.
The female thief and two male accomplices have been captured on security cameras at Target stores in Lewisville and Allen buying iPads and other expensive items before the victims know to cancel their credit cards.
The thieves have also stolen personal identification information, such as birth certificates and Social Security cards.
The operators of both facilities are working with police to enhance security at the front desk, which is often only a sign in sheet.
