WISE COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Three people were injured and one was killed when the plane they were in clipped a tree while landing on a private strip, causing it to explode when it hit the ground.

Wise County Sheriff’s Deputy David Walker said the four victims are family members. Walker said the three who lived are severely burned and the person who was declared dead died at the scene.

The incident happened on CR 4790, south of FM 2048, the Wise County Messenger reported.

Walker said the Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the crash. They have not released the names of anyone involved.
