FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – While there’s certainly excitement surrounding the long-awaited specialty grocer Trader Joe’s opening its doors on Hulen Street Friday, nearby homeowners are equally worried.

They say the last thing they need is more traffic.

“The traffic is horrendous already,” said Scott Corpening, a resident. “It’s going to impact the whole Hulen mess we got already in the gridlock.”

Hulen Street is under construction and has been for months. That includes the nearby bridge. As such, there’s not much confidence that Trader Joe’s loyal longtime customers and curious newcomers won’t add to that.

“I think traffic will increase because of Trader Joe’s,” said Karlene Hendricks, another resident.

Janice Campbell, another neighbor, blanketed the whole area as the problem.

“It’s horrible no matter where you go, but Hulen is really bad,” she said.

To help with the construction mess already here, Trader Joe’s has a plan to bring in off duty police officers to help direct traffic during its first weekend.

Insiders say finding alternate routes and avoiding the area will be key.
