PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - A major intersection in Plano closed down while the FBI investigated a bizarre incident, after a man was found injured along Parker Road early Monday morning.

Several people who live in the area, between Coit Road and Independence Parkway, called police early Monday morning to report what sounded like gunshots and explosions. Officers responding to the scene discovered a man in the street covered in blood. At the same time, they also discovered a nearby gas leak.

The man told police that he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident, but Officer David Tilley said that they have ruled out that story. “We don’t believe he’s being truthful with us at this point,” Tilley said. “We have evidence over here that these pipes have been tampered with, and that’s where we’re now focusing our attention.”

The bomb squad was also called out to the scene along with the FBI. The man was in very bad shape, and officers have not been able to interview him.

Westbound Parker Road, between Independence Parkway and Coit Road, is expected to be closed until approximately noon on Monday.
