The location of Taco Bell where a police officer shot at a suspect reportedly seen with a marijuana cigarette Sunday.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are investigating an off-duty officer involved shooting that happened at a Taco Bell Sunday.

According to the Dallas Police Department an off-duty officer stopped at the Taco Bell at 4325 W. Camp Wisdom Road around 10:00 a.m. While there the officer noticed an man with a marijuana cigarette.

When the officer tried to approach the suspect he reportedly saw the suspect reach for a handgun. In fear of his safety the officer fired shots at the suspect.

The suspect was hit. He was then taken to the hospital.

Investigators have since found a handgun at the scene.

The officer who was fully uniformed at the time was not injured. The Dallas Police Department has confirmed that he is a 10 year veteran of the force.

Both the identity of the officer and the suspect have not been released.
