DALLAS (AP) - West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen is no stranger to the Big 12.
While the Mountaineers are league newcomers, Holgorsen was a Big 12 assistant coach for nine of 11 seasons before becoming their coach. He was at Texas Tech for eight seasons and spent a year as Oklahoma State’s offensive coordinator.
Holgorsen says West Virginia is a lot like Big 12 schools: There is a football culture, a passionate fan base to fill the stadium and a team used to winning.
New Kansas coach Charlie Weis also spoke during the second day of Big 12 media days Tuesday. Weis says more troubling than the Jayhawks’ 10 losses last season were how badly they lost so often. They lost by at least 30 points six times.
