FORT WORTH (AP) – TCU has hired former Miami coach Randy Shannon as linebackers coach.
Shannon was one of the nation’s top defensive coordinators before taking over as head coach of the Hurricanes in 2007. He went 28-22 before getting fired at the end of the regular season in 2010.
The Associated Press reported Monday that TCU and Shannon had agreed to terms on his hiring.
Since his ouster at Miami, Shannon has visited several NFL and college programs around the country, including TCU.
Shannon was a starting linebacker for the Hurricanes when they won the 1987 national championship and was on the coaching staff when they won titles in 1991 and 2001. He spent 21 years with the Miami program.
