ARLINGTON (AP) – Texas Rangers infielder Michael Young has been placed on the MLB’s paternity leave list following the birth of his third son.
The Rangers made the move Friday, when they selected the contract of infielder Luis Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock to take Young’s roster spot.
Young, who came out of Thursday night’s game early when his wife went into labor, can be on the paternity leave list for a maximum of three days.
Hernandez, primarily a shortstop, was hitting .262 with eight homers and 66 RBIs in 126 games at Round Rock.
