Fort Worth & Animal Organizations Partner For Adoptions
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The city of Fort Worth and nearly two dozen other entities hope to adopt out hundreds animals during a two day “mega-adoption event” this weekend.
In partnership with PetSmart Charities, the City of Fort Worth and more than 20 animal welfare organizations, “Shelter Pets Rock — North Texas Adoption Showcase” will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16 at two Fort Worth PetSmart stores: 4800 SW Loop 820 (I-20 at Hulen) and 2901 Texas Sage Trail (I-35W at Heritage Trace Parkway).
The adoption event has a goal of adopting an unprecedented 500 dogs and cats during the two-day event. Adoptable pets will be ready to charm visitors beneath air-conditioned tents at both PetSmart locations.
“We live in times where millions of animals have been abandoned or lost,” said Brandon Scott Bennett, Fort Worth Code Compliance director. “Many of them land at animal shelters or with rescue organizations. The shelters are often overcrowded and it’s an ongoing challenge to find homes quickly enough to make space to accommodate new ones that arrive daily.”
In addition to adoptions, pet parents can take advantage of many special offers during the two-day event. Pet parents can visit with pet trainers and veterinarians from Banfield Pet Hospital as well as many fun events for pet parents and their newly adopted family member.
