FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive is off Dallas streets, thanks to an anonymous tip.
Texas Department of Public Safety officers arrested Rickey Lynn Johnson, 31, at a southeast Dallas apartment complex on September 11. Johnson, a Crips gang member, was wanted for parole violation. He’s been convicted of drug crimes, making terrorist threats and having a gun in a school zone.
DPS investigators were arrested Johnson within hours of receiving a Crime Stoppers tip. They also arrested Lavota Yarborugh, who was with Johnson at the time, on several outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Dallas County. A $7500 reward will be paid out for the Crime Stoppers tip that led to Johnson’s arrest.
DPS and other agencies have arrested 28 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders so far in 2011. More than $80,000 in rewards have been paid out for tips leading to those arrests.
Crime Stoppers tips can be called into the 24-hour hotline at (800) 252-TIPS (8477). Text messages can also be sent to 274637 (CRIMES) from a cell phone. Finally, web tips can be submitted through the DPS website or Facebook page. All tips are anonymous.
