FORT HOOD (AP) - An Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage has been released after a four-day stay in a hospital.

Fort Hood officials say in a news release that Maj. Nidal Hasan was discharged Wednesday from the Texas Army post’s hospital and returned to the Bell County Jail in nearby Belton.

Authorities have not said why Hasan was hospitalized but he was listed in good condition after being admitted Saturday.

The 42-year-old Hasan faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole if convicted in the November 2009 attack that killed 13 people and wounded more than two dozen.

Hasan is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair after police at Fort Hood shot him the day of the rampage.
