FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A Grapevine police officer facing child pornography charges will be held in jail because he is a flight risk and a danger to the community, according to a federal judge.
Phillip Woolery, 46, made a brief first appearance in federal court to answer to charges of receipt and attempted receipt of child pornography.
According to the criminal complaint, U.S. Postal Inspectors traced Woolery’s home and email addresses to a DVD set purchased online in January 2010. During a raid of his Crowley home, Woolery admitted to law enforcement that he ordered the DVDs, which contained sexually explicit images of children.
Woolery faces up to 20 years in prison, a possible $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release if he is convicted.
He is a 17-year veteran of the Grapevine Police Department. A spokesperson for the department says Woolery has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
