Experimental Gyro Copter Crashes In Parker County

PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A Fort Worth experimental helicopter pilot is in critical condition after his aircraft crashed at a Parker County airport Saturday morning.

The pilot, identifed as William Hunthrop, was doing ‘Touch and Go’ drills at the airport when the rotor of his helicopter came into contact with the ground and crashed.

Hunthrop was taken by air ambulance to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.

Hunthrop’s helicopter is described as an MTO Sport, a 2-seat open air kit-built helicopter.  The aircraft is put together with parts made by a German company called AutoGyro.

Here is a photo of what the aircraft looks like, it is not the one that belongs to Hunthrop.
