ROCKWALL (CBS 11 NEWS) – Police have made an arrest in the murder of a 15- year old Rockwall girl.
Police say Juan Enrique Torres, 41, from Belize, was booked into jail, after providing a written confession.
Police say Torres shares a child with Surie’s mother and that the two lived together for several years.
CBS 11 talked to Torres’ former roommate, Felicia, who says she was forced to kick him out of her house.
“He pawned my rings and some of my tools and sell from my stuff that he steal from the house,” she said.
Meanwhile, the memorial continues to grow outside the mobile home where Surie was murdered Tuesday.
Authorities say the 15-year-old fought with her attacker before she was stabbed to death while home from school sick.
Rockwall Police say the victim sent a text message around 2pm and was killed between that time and 4:30.
“She was just one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. It was just one of those things where you would never expect it to happen to her of all people,” says friend David Harvey.
At Rockwall Heath High School where Surie was a freshman, grief counselors consoled her classmates.
Tonight, at 6:30 p.m., Rockwall residents will meet at Lake Pointe Park to address the questions and concerns raised in the community by this violent crime.
