HUNTSVILLE (AP) – Condemned Texas prisoner Mario Swain is to die for the beating, stabbing and strangling of a woman during a break-in at her East Texas home a decade ago.
The 33-year-old Swain faces lethal injection Thursday evening in Huntsville for the slaying of 46-year-old Lola Nixon at her home in Longview.
Swain led police to the woman’s body dumped in the back seat of an abandoned car in a remote part of Gregg County, about 120 miles east of Dallas. Authorities said he had a pattern of attacking women and robbing them, often using a chemical inhalant or stun gun to knock them out.
Police investigating her disappearance learned from a neighbor in Longview about a suspicious truck parked on their street. The truck was tracked to Swain.
