Former Ennis High School Teacher Sentenced For Improper Relationship With Students
ENNIS (CBSDFW) — A former Ennis High School teacher was sentenced to five concurrent five-year prison terms today for having an improper relationship with students.
Joshua Allen Jaggears, 28, of Burleson, plead guilty to all charges against him, including Online Solicitation of a Minor, Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student and Sexual Performance by a Child.
Ennis Police say an investigation began in August 2011 after a concerned parent overheard high school boys talking about Jaggears requesting cell phone photos of the boys’ genitals.
Police interviewed several students who came forward with such requests by the former agriculture teacher.
They say some students did send photos, but police found no evidence of sexual contact between Jaggears and any of the boys interviewed.
After the sentencing, Ellis County District Attorney Patrick Wilson issued the following statement:
“This brings to close a difficult episode for the students, parents, teachers and administrators of the Ennis Independent School District. When multiple entities are involved in a criminal matter, as with this case, cooperation and communication are key to a successful outcome. I would like to commend all of the law enforcement and school personnel who assisted with this investigation.”
