DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) – 1. Frankie Edgar is going to lose his 3rd straight title fight.  I just don’t see how Edgar is going to be able to match Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo’s speed.  Aldo will solidify his position as a top 5 pound for pound fighter with a dominant performance over a former champion in Edgar.

2. Alistair Overeem is going to look to make a statement with his performance against a very tough top-10 opponent in Antonio “Big Foot” Silva.  A win will give Overeem a title shot against UFC Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.

3. Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall will throw down in a #1 contender bout that will give the winner a chance to avenge a loss to current Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.  This should be a great kickoff to an awesome PPV card. McCall looked better against Johnson if that matters.

4. Jon Fitch and Demian Maia face off in one of the most intriguing stylistic matchups that I believe we have ever seen in the UFC.  Fitch seems un-submittable and Maia could easily be the most dangerous submission artist in all of MMA.  I expect Maia’s evolved stand-up game to be the difference in a very competitive fight.  This one will go the distance and should be very tough to judge

5. Rashad Evans is in a very unique position on Saturday night.  If he can defeat Antonio Rogerio Nogueira he will have a chance to move down to 185lbs. and challenge champion Anderson Siva.  If Evans refuses the move or loses on Saturday expect the UFC to announce a matchup between undefeated middleweight contender Chris Weidman and Silva.  Either way- we will know what is going to happen next for The Spider late Saturday night.

Check out the UFC 156 Post Fight Show with myself and Richard Hunter on 105.3 THE FAN.  Richard will be live at the Mandalay Bay Events Center for Saturday night’s action.  Follow me on twitter @mmamiked and follow Richard @RichardHunter.
