COLLEGE STATION (AP) - Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin says there are many ways Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel can improve as he and the Aggies prepare for the start of spring practice.
The Aggies are coming off an 11-2 season in their first year in the Southeastern Conference, and they open practice on Saturday.
Manziel threw for more than 3,700 yards and added over 1,400 yards on the ground last year to become the first freshman to win the Heisman.
Still, Sumlin says there’s ways he can be better.
The second-year coach says “he can help his footwork, his mechanics, his thought process and overall knowledge of the offense.”
He’ll also have to adjust to a new offensive coordinator in Clarence McKinney after Kliff Kingsbury left to become the coach at Texas Tech.
