DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – There is a new show on Travel Channel for my fellow foodies!
Local boy and late night gourmand Mikey Roe (@MikeyRoe) is in the third week of his new series ‘Feed the Beast‘ all about that late night craving after a night of excess and libations. Where do you find great food after the bars close or your 3rd shift ends? That’s the question he answers. We can expect a lot from Mikey but, so far he has explored overnight eats in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and Austin.
This brings me to my sFuzzi Uptown experience last night. Mikey had his local viewing party at the location, so what better time to throw some sFuzzi in DJ’s Lunchbox?
If you haven’t yet visited sFuzzi, ya gotta go once. I promise you will return!
It’s a great late night spot with copious patio space to relax with friends and enjoy a beverage… or five.
They also have a pretty nice menu selection to compliment there equally nice bar.
I had to go with a recommendation from Mikey and my very own show host Jane Slater, to try the Texas Bacon and Eggs pizza. Wait. Bacon. Eggs. Pizza? These things are usually separated by at least 4 hours in out daily grind. But, could there be a better bar food combo? After trying it.. No. This pie is freshly baked in sFuzzi’s wood-fired brick oven and made with all fresh ingredients.
Lets break it down:
The crust is crisp and light with that slightly charred and smoky flavor you expect from a proper thin crust pie. Next up is the red sauce, and it is distributed like Goldilocks loves it, just right. Not to much, not to little, just enough to deliver the sweet freshness of tomatoes to the palate. Of course there is a cheese layer, again just right. Now the stars of the show, brightly lit up on the billboard of your taste buds, farm fresh eggs and prosciutto! This meal dances on your tongue like a Gypsy Queen, hitting all of the vital areas of your palate reminding you why your tongue is a vital organ! Every texture painted in your masticator as if by Michelangelo himself, turning the roof of your mouth into your very own Sistine Chapel!
When this arrives at your table, ya gotta burst those golden domes and allow that creamy yellow curd to flow all over the pie so you have a little in every bite. Creamy, Crunchy, Salty, Sweet, and beautiful!
In case you can’t tell, I loved it! This is the first work of art that I had no vacillation tearing apart and devouring likeit was my last meal.
I’ll be returning for sure to explore the remainder of the menu, or perhaps just another Texas Eggs and Bacon pizza!
Warning: You may get some awkward looks while you pile drive this masterpiece into your chew hole, but have no fear, those are envious looks of lust and they supply you with large napkins!
