I celebrated another birthday recently, and each of my kids wrote me a homemade card. While I love all of them, I really wanted to share the card from my 10-year-old:
A poem for your birthday:
To a mom who always cares,
Doesn’t really take any dares,
Always will help and love,
Will never ever shove,
Unless she’s joking.
She’ll help you if you’re choking.
Is she going to be the next Maya Angelou? More than likely not. But I’ll love this card forever because she put a lot of time and heartfelt energy into it. Plus the age on the cake she for drew me was off by a couple of (okay, maybe quite a few) years. That part alone makes it priceless.
