How Cold Has This April Really Been?

By Chief Meteorologist Larry Mowry

I went over the record books to see how cold this April is compared to recent past April’s.  This is fresh off our record low for this morning (Wed, April 24) at DFW of 37 degrees.  This breaks the old record of 41 set in 1995.

So far this April is running 3.1 degrees below average!

We have also seen 4 days with morning lows in the 30s at DFW.

In addition, we have had 7 mornings where temperatures started between 40 t0 43 degrees!

This so far is the coldest April we have seen since 1997.

And if the month were to end today, this would be the 8th coldest April on record.
