Seattle Ranch Produces Pot-Flavored Bacon
SEATTLE (KRLD) – A ranch in Washington State has found a solution to the growing problem of low-grade marijuana disposal — feed it to their pigs.
BB ranch in Seattle has been producing pot-flavored bacon using waste from local commercial pot growers.
“We just fed marijuana as feed to our pigs,” says owner William Von Schneidau. “Stocks, stems and leaves — all of the fall off stuff that the commercial pot growers don’t use.”
With the legalization of marijuana for recreational use in Washington state, the supply of pot-remnants is as good as ever. But why did they decide to start this venture?
“How it kind of started is that we found some of the young bucks out back behind the barn rolling up a spliff and they wanted to get stoned,” said Schneidau.
The ranch has also experimented with grains from microbreweries and small distilleries that produce vodka. And Schneidau is always looking for the next opportunity.
“I was thinking about Texas. It would be really great if I could buddy up with some guy doing feral pigs out there. I imagine we could probably generate something good.”
