ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A two-year-old girl is dead after an early morning fire at an Arlington home Sunday. Four adults and another child were outside of the home when first responders arrived at the scene.
The toddler, Lily Ann Condron, would have turned 2 today. Her family had planned on celebrating at Chuck E. Cheese.
The child’s grandfather tried in vain to save her from the fire.
“First alarm units arrived together very quickly to find fire coming from front bedroom windows of the home. Fire crews tried to make a very aggressive, quick rescue. The crews had to fight the fire to get to the child’s room,” said Lt. Kevin Seeton of the Arlington Fire Department in an email.
The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross and a chaplain from the fire department are helping the family and providing counseling, Seeton said.
“Calls of this nature are extremely difficult for us. Our firefighters are always working hard to save lives and property for our residents.”
