FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM)Early Friday morning a pickup slams into a Fort Worth house, crushing four children as they slept. Then the driver takes off.

The force of the crash left a gaping hole in the house. The pickup went over a curb, crashed through a neighbor’s fence, hit a tree and ended up right in the living room of Monica Medina’s home.

Medina’s sons are out of the hospital this afternoon and fortunately escaped the incident with only scrapes and bruises.

Young Manuel Anchondo remembers, “The tire just got on my back and just backed out, and my mom screamed ‘get up!’”

Jaime Anchondo said, “The car went over me… on my head.” The six-year-old boy can barely walk now. You can still see the tire marks on his body. Pointing to where it hurts he said, “My back and my head and right here.”

Jaime was sleeping with his three brothers in the living room, when police say a pickup, later found at a nearby residence, rammed into the house.

The children, the youngest three and the oldest 12, were trapped underneath the vehicle.

Adrian Gutierrez remembers, “My brothers were screaming. I seen [sic] smoke in the house and the headlights from the truck. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do.”

Manuel remembered, “I got up and just ran with my brothers to hide next to the refrigerator.”

Family members say a passenger jumped out of the pick up and ran off. The driver then escaped by backing out and speeding off in the truck.

“So much went through my mind. It could have been so much worse,” mother Monica Medina said gratefully. ““It’s crazy. I’m still in shock. I’m still in shock, but I’m thanking the Lord everything is good.”

She is thankful her boys walked away from the crash and the children are thankful they won’t miss a game on Saturday. Manuel said, “We play baseball and he [brother] said ‘what about baseball?’ And he’s all worried about baseball.” Mom said she isn’t sure about the kids making the game.

Hours after the crash police found the pickup involved parked in the backyard of a home on the same street. Officials aren’t saying if the driver lives in the house or why the truck ended up there. So far, no arrests have been made.
