Bringing Twinkies Back
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Diners with a penchant for corn syrup, sugar, beef fat and a slew of other ingredients, which are in Twinkies, can look forward to the popular snack cakes return this summer. Hostess is banking on Twinkies sweet return when it puts the processed, cream-filled bites back on shelves July 15.
The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure.
Based on the outpouring of nostalgia sparked by its demise, the new Hostess is expecting a blockbuster return next month. The company says the cakes will taste the same but that the boxes will now include the tag line “The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever.”
“The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever?” Not a bad marketing tag given Twinkies are known by many people for not degrading over time…
