Mexican Delegation In Dallas To Learn Justice
DALLAS (AP) – The U.S. attorney’s office in Dallas is hosting a meeting with members of a delegation from Mexico shaping changes to the country’s judicial system.
The meeting between prosecutors, judges and delegation members starts Monday morning. U.S. Attorney Sarah Saldana’s office says in a statement that the Mexican delegation is in Texas to learn about the American justice system.
Mexican courts are undergoing major changes to how criminal defendants are tried. Mexico’s states are moving from an inquisitorial system to an accusatorial system — like the one in the United States. The new system promises greater legal protections for defendants and a better reputation for Mexican courts.
