SAGINAW (CBSDFW.COM) – Police in Saginaw on Wednesday identified the girl who was found dead in the middle of the street on Monday evening as 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher. And on the same day, her father urged the public to come forward with any information that may lead to his daughter’s killer.
Karl Gallagher read a brief statement outside of his home on Wednesday. He thanked law enforcement members for their investigative efforts and asked for privacy during this difficult time. “Please respect of privacy during this time of tragedy,” he said before walking back to his home without answering any questions.

Police said that the family is not suspected in the murder of the 6-year-old girl. In fact, the Saginaw Police Department does not have any suspects at this time. Yet, police spokesman Officer Damon Ing said that authorities believe this is an isolated case. “I can assure the community of Saginaw and all surrounding communities that you are perfectly safe in this community,” Ing said.
Saginaw resident Angelica Castro questioned how police could assure her family’s safety while no suspects have been named. “It’s not adding up to what they are saying,” she said. “Something is not right.”
The FBI spent much of Tuesday searching the Gallagher home, located less than two miles away from where the 6-year-old’s body was found.
An evidence receipt list was left in clear sight, inside of a car parked in front of the Gallagher home on Wednesday afternoon. It showed that police collected a blue-gray tarp, electrical tape and plastic Walmart bags from the car. Detectives also removed dozens of items from the Gallagher home on Tuesday.
The 6-year-old girl’s body was found by two teenage boys on Monday evening. She was naked and had been wrapped in a tarp, her hands and feet bound and her head covered in a plastic shopping bag. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, she died shortly before being found by the teens. She had just celebrated a birthday on June 12, less than three weeks before her death.
The murder has shaken the entire Saginaw community. “It’s the saddest thing to see a little girl not to experience life,” said resident Sergio Lopez on Wednesday. “Someone took that away from her. It’s the worst thing ever.” According to neighbors, the girl was often seen playing unsupervised outside. She was a student at Willow Creek Elementary.
While police have no suspects at this time, they continue to search for a red truck with a softball-sized splatter of green paint on the rear passenger side. The vehicle was spotted in the area where the girl’s body was found on Monday. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the authorities at 682-888-3682 or 682-888-3684. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
