COLLEYVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Tami Stanley rescues Labrador Retrievers. She took Bunny in from a shelter with a bad case of mange.

“She had no hair around her eyes or on her ears,” Stanley recalled.

But as Bunny healed, Stanley learned the depths of the dog’s skills in the swimming pool.

“I happened to grab the toy and it was just here under the water and Bunny came swimming by and just went ‘bloop!’,”Stanley said.

Bunny held her breath, dove under the water and snagged the rubber toy from Stanley’s hand.

“So then we went, ‘Hey! Look at this!’,” Stanley laughed. “So, then we put it further and I held it with my toe on the bottom. She went right down and got it! And then we just moved it out.”

Now, a video on YouTube shot underwater shows Bunny dog paddling slowly down to snatch her toy off the bottom of the pool at depths of up to thirteen feet!

“I’ve worked with many dogs and this was the first dog that showed me this,” Stanley said. “For a dog to go underwater that far, on her own, and to be able to hold her breath — you know that’s a lot of pressure on the dog — its very unusual. And if you’ve seen her do it when she comes out she immediately blows out this big wad of air.”

Bunny’s underwater video has drawn thousands of hits on YouTube. And Stanley hopes the video will make a splash with someone who’ll give bunny a new home.

“To have a dog come out of the shelter that somebody else discarded with a really cool skill is very exciting for me personally,” Stanley said. “It really is amazing! Somebody is going to love bunny and bunny is going to make somebody a great dog.
