Despite ending the month on a hot note (high today of 102), the month of July will go down as slightly below average.  The average temperature for the month is 84.4 degrees.  That is actually 0.9 degrees below average for the month.  We can thank July 14 and 15 for ending cooler than average.  Remember those days?  We saw steady rain across the area and the high on the 14th was 81 and the high on the 15th was only 74.  That 74 degree high was one of the coolest July days on record.

This is actually the fourth month this year where we have seen below average temperatures.  The chart below shows the temperature departure for each month this year.
