On Tuesday, DFW reached 104°, making that the highest temperature of the year…until today. Expecting a degree or two warmer this afternoon. The record high at DFW for today is 106° and we will be dangerously close to that.
The HEAT ADVISORY continues thru this evening, but may need to be extended thru tomorrow.
We can blame a relatively small, but potent dome of heat…high pressure that is firmly entrenched across Texas. Storms and cooler weather are found all around that high, but underneath it where we are, the air is sinking and little or no clouds are forming.
We are keeping an eye on an area of low pressure way out to the east….past Florida. This isn’t a tropical storm or depression, but it will move west into the Gulf of Mexico during the weekend. This will increase our moisture levels in North Texas and will lead to at least isolated showers or storms beginning Saturday. Even though we’re not expected widespread rainfall, the increase in clouds will keep temperatures below 100° this weekend!
So the 7day forecast could be summarized by “starting very hot and ending less hot”
