Did The Rain Help The Lake Levels?

By Chief Meteorologist Larry Mowry

This was such a good soaking rain with most areas seeing 1″ to 2″ in the Metroplex.  But areas to our south saw anywhere from 4″ to 6+”.  The rain did help increase lake levels.  Just not a whole lot.

Most of the rain was absorbed into the dry ground.  If the ground would have been saturated more of this rain would have runoff into the lake system.  The good news is that if you did recieve 1″of rain you don’t have to run the sprinklers for about a week.

Here are the biggest gainers.

Even with the increase Lake Levels still remain down.
