ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) — The Cowboys played their final game of 2013 with a hard fought loss to the Eagles 24-22. Another non-playoff 8-8 season for the 3rd straight year.

On the other side of the field, the Eagles go from worst to first in the NFC East. Was it the coaching change in Philly that changed their fortunes? Yes, but Andy Reid looks like a good coach in Kansas City.

Was it the QB change from Vick to Foles? Yes, but that wasn’t the only pick the Eagles hit on in 2012.

You can’t grade drafts the day after the draft is over, and it is difficult to grade a draft after one year. Bill Parcells learned from Tom Landry that you find out if you drafted the right guys in the 2nd and 3rd years.

The last game of the season was decided by only 2 points. A few plays or a couple better players, and you get a win. Instead you lose again and look towards the draft.

I look back at the 2012 draft and see how good the Eagles did and how bad the Cowboys did. In the final game of the season, the Eagles get 15 tackles and 4 pass deflections from their defense in their 2012 draft class. Offensively Philly gets 263 yards passing with 2 TD’s and a RB who gets 2 carries for 11 yards and a TD from the 2012 draft.

The Cowboys get 4 tackles from the draft class, and if you include undrafted free agent Cole Beasley, the Boys get a catch for 7 yards.

The Cowboys have 3 players that will never contribute or play in the NFL and 2 backups at best. Claiborne and Crawford are the injured picks we hope can have an impact next year. This class is only two years old. TWO YEARS OLD!!! The Eagles have a starting DT and CB. They get a future pro bowler LB in Kendricks. They find their franchise QB and…and…and they pick a backup DE, OT, and RB.

Until the Cowboys start drafting like its 2005, there won’t be a consistent winner in Dallas.
