MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) — A pet rescue group in Mesquite helped recover and care for a dog found last week with a rubber band embedded around the dog’s nose and mouth.

Paws Patrol Pet Rescue says the rubber band was wrapped around the dog’s nose and “dug all the way through to her sinus cavity.”

The dog, “Lille”, underwent successful surgery at Creek Crossing Animal Hospital. The surgery was paid for by private donations.

Lille has a long recovery ahead of her, but has already settled into a foster home.

It is unclear if the party responsible for the animal abuse has been identified.

You can visit the group’s Facebook page to learn more about the organization.
