The latest drought monitor is out and we are now in Extreme Drought for much of the Metroplex.  Red shaded area on map below is Extreme Drought.



This is now the 3rd driest start to a year on record!

2014 Rainfall at DFW = 3.93″

That is a deficit of over 7″, see chart below.



Arlington is even worse off, showing a deficit of over 9″.

We are in the midst of a multi-year dry period.  The last time we had a year with above average rainfall was 2009.

Some rain is in the forecast late next week, but nothing that will take us out of the drought.
