Vigil Set For Mansfield Girl Who Died Suddenly
MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) – Students and faculty members at Wester Middle School in Mansfield will gather on Friday to remember the 13-year-old girl who died unexpectedly this week. Tiffany Phu passed away on Wednesday after being rushed to the hospital from the school.
An official cause of death has not been released, but Phu’s friends said on social media websites that the eighth grader suffered from asthma.
A sign at the Mansfield school says, quite simply, “We miss you, Tiff.” A memorial has been set up for the young girl inside of the building. Grief counselors were there on Thursday and Friday to help students and faculty members through this difficult time. Several of the students and staff members are wearing green — Phu’s favorite color.
“The Wester family grieves alongside Tiffany Phu’s family during this heartbreaking time,” said Wester Middle School principal Andrea Hensley.
The girl’s parents, her fellow students and other members of the community are invited to the campus on Friday night to remember and pray for Phu. The vigil is set to take place at 8:00 p.m. on the track at Wester Middle School.
Also, the school’s PTA is collecting various gift cards and paper products (plates, napkins, cups, etc.) for the Phu family. Those who would like to donate can drop items off at Wester Middle School. Please mark items for “The Phu Family.”
Phu’s family visited the campus on Friday morning. Her older sister said that the young girl loved sports and her classmates. “Every kid loves to be at school, and she had so many memories here,” said Faustine Phu. “I’m just happy she left doing what she loves.”
