KAUFMAN (CBSDFW.COM) –  The Kaufman Police Department is investigating a series of complaints in which a person (or persons) is calling people saying they’re an investigator with the Kaufman Police Department and if they do not pay money to them that they will be arrested.

The Kaufman Police Department says it does not contact people by telephone and solicit any money of any kind.

If you receive one of these calls, Kaufman Police say to immediately contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kaufman Police Department and if you’re able to capture a telephone number please do so and provide that to the investigators.

Police say they’re following multiple leads.

Kaufman County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000.00 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s) who committed this crime.
