DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Dallas restaurant is putting the “giving” in Thanksgiving this year by serving up a free meal on Thursday to anyone who wants the food.
Norma’s Cafe in Oak Cliff is putting together the community meal for the 27th year in a row.
Employees have spent hours this week preparing a meal that is expected to feed 8,000 people.
“Just giving back, helping people,” said Pam Spell, a shift manager at Norma’s Cafe. “There’s a lot of need people here and we have the hands to do it.”
Employees have prepared thousands of rolls, dozens of turkeys and pies, and have piles of corn, potatoes and beans on-hand for anyone who walks through the door on Thursday.
“It’s kind of like having two families. The Norma’s family and then our families,” said Bill Ziegler, the Director of Operations at Norma’s Cafe.
The meal will be served at the Oak Cliff location in Dallas from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
