AMARILLO, Texas (AP) – A Texas trooper discovered nearly a million dollars in methamphetamines during a traffic stop near Amarillo. The trooper discovered several plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine weighing more than 12 pounds concealed inside the panels of a car.

Carson County jail records show 20-year-old Ernesto Ayala of Oklahoma City was arrested Saturday and is being held on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance.

DPS believes the drugs were being transported from San Diego to Oklahoma City.

12 lbs in Texas has a value of about $3,500 per pound * 12 lbs = $42,000. Not a big deal.
