DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Dallas police officer’s plea to a Seattle Seahawks player is quickly going viral.

Officer Dan Russell posted an open letter today, after hearing that some players planned to sit during the National Anthem again on Sunday, which is 9/11.

In the letter (posted below), Russell, a native Washingtonian and life-long Seahawks fans, included photographs of himself on the job, as well some off-duty, with one photo showing him wearing a Seahawks t-shirt. The on-duty photos were taken the night of the ambush on Dallas police that left five officers dead.

He directs his letter to quarterback Russell Wilson and includes an emotional plea:

“I humbly ask – I beg – that you do not sit down for The Star Spangled Banner on this coming Sunday, the 15th anniversary of 09/11/2001.

“To do so would be a slap in the face to millions of fans, millions of public Servants, millions of Americans, to 09/11 first responders, to the survivors, and to the families of all that were involved and impacted by that terrible day, most of all –

“To those 2,996 who fell in an act of hatred towards our country and all we stand for.

“You have so many avenues of making a stand, of letting your voice be one of compassion, reconciliation, and building rather than tearing down. You have shown that you are an inspiring leader, man of community, faith, family, and charity. You have a voice that will be heard.

“Please, use your voice in one of those other avenues – do not allow yourself to become one that succumbs to the sensationalism and misguided choices that are currently causing so much division in our country.

“Stand for The Star Spangled Banner.

“We who Serve will stand with you.”

The post has been shared more than 5,000 times.

On, Thursday night Seahawks player Doug Baldwin Jr. tweeted “Our team will honor the country and flag in a pregame demonstration of unity,” but did not make specific reference to the anthem. It’s not yet known what the Seahawks have planned.

Perhaps this police officer could instead attempt to appeal to the nasty police officers around this country that assault, brutalize, murder and continue to destroy the communities in which they serve. And if the “good” cops would hold their fellow “bad” cops accountable and not encourage, cover-up or just look the other way as these bad cops continue their truly evil ways, then maybe this Dallas cop’s message would mean something. It’s become very clear that BLM, the president, the DOJ, etc. are not able to control the bad cops. Apparently, only the police are allowing the police to police themselves and they are doing a horrible job.

I could say the exact same thing about the black community. When are you going to hold your nasty thuggs accountable for all their hate????? I am on the blue side. They protect us from the black thug culture running rampant in every American city ghetto. You blacks always worry about everyone else and never look in the mirror. Cops are not the problem blacks are.

So thats what you think about Afro Americas ?

    Time to boycott the NFL……….

    A) This is a publicity stunt by that officer.

    B) He doesn’t acknowledge that the active protests in the NFL are in response to police officers murdering black people at an alarming rate. I don’t want to hear any pro-police rant by anyone, especially by a Dallas police officer, that does not acknowledge both sides of the story. You can support police, but understand that the reason they have recently been targeted is a response for years and years of police brutality against black people.

YET THE BLACKS KILL MORE OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE. POLICE OFFICERS KILL BLACK THUG’S WHEN THEY REFUSE TO OBEY AUTHORITY. JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW. NONE OF US ARE NO MATTER WHAT OUR RACE!!!
