Man Wanted For 1994 Murder Could Be In North Texas

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (CBSDFW.COM)  – A man wanted for a Jan 7, 1994 murder in Las Cruces, New Mexico is believed to be living with family near Arlington or in Mexico.

On Thursday, Las Cruces District Attorney Mark D’Antonio released a new image of the man wanted for killing 21-year-old Ricardo Soria.

According to investigators, Gregorio Zavala, then 19, shot Soria in the head at point-blank range. The incident happened during a house party in Las Cruces.

According to witnesses, Soria was trying to break up a fight when Zavala shot and killed him.

Zavala is 6 feet tall and had a thin build at the time of the murder. Authorities believe he’s been using the name Gregorio Santillan or Jose Lopez.

The newest image, an age-progression composite sketch, was created by the FBI’s Operational Projects Unit and commissioned by the 3rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
