DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Several local non-profits forfeited the chance to win $22,000 and decided to gift it to the family of a little boy living with a degenerative brain disease instead.
Julian Kampfshulte, 8, was diagnosed with ALD, a disease that has since stolen his hearing, sight and mobility last September. “I remember looking at him and noticing that he wasn’t looking directly back at me,” said Julian’s father.
The little boy lost his sight two week’s after his diagnosis. His family said they’re overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the community.
“It was the right thing to do,” said Crispin Deneault, the President of the group 100 Women of Lake Highlands. “It just felt right and it was the right thing to do, it felt like it was in God’s hands,” said Deneault.
