Christmas Is For Caring

1080 KRLD’s 34^rd Annual “Christmas is for Caring” is December 10-14, and we want you to help bring holiday cheer to the residents of the Denton State Supported Living Center (formerly the Denton State School).

About Christmas is for Caring 2011:
CIFC benefits the residents of the Denton State Supported Living Center. These are adults with developmental disabilities. In many cases they are profoundly affected by their disabilities, meaning they cannot function without a great deal of assistance and are not able to walk or talk.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase at least two gifts for each resident of the school. KRLD also will be collecting monetary donations used to complete a specific improvement project at the school. This year’s major projects will be helping purchase medical equipment to help better serve the residents, including new hospital beds and x-ray equipment.

About the Denton State Supported Living Center:

The DSSLC is the largest of the 11 living centers in Texas and home to more than 525 individuals with severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. Located on 200 wooded acres south of Denton, it serves 18 counties in the North Texas area.

All donations to KRLD’s Christmas is for Caring flow directly to the Denton State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services Council, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
