Where do you work and what is your title?

“I work for Greenville Independent School District. My title is executive director of human resources. I make sure that all employees are treated with dignity, that all needed benefits are given, that all teachers are highly qualified and that all paraprofessionals meet the qualifications needed to work. I get to work with people and I love it more and more each day.”

What kind of degree is required for this position? 

“An administrator’s degree is preferred. However, a management degree can also suffice. I have my M.Ed in Educational Administration with an administrator’s certification. I got my B.S. in 2.5 years. However, due to my lovely children and job, I waited nine years to get my masters. Higher education always has something to contribute as far as groundwork for any career. My teaching career and campus-level administration positions prepared me as well. I have learned to always respect another’s viewpoint and to listen, which is an acquired art. I feel that this has helped me be successful.”

Do you have any advice for someone interested in pursuing a career in human resources?

“If you want to do H.R., you must really have a love for people. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. You must be flexible and listen to all viewpoints. Your decisions affect lives, so don’t take people lightly. Be prepared to work. You never know what another human will do or say, and there is no off button like one you would have on a computer. But, if you give it your all, you will love it! There are days when you have to reprimand and even fire someone. However, most days you get to see how small things make big differences in the lives of others and you feel so good about that.”

Murphy put Texas ahead for good with a drive just over the wall in right field in the sixth inning, and the Rangers spoiled the second three-homer game of Cabrera’s career with an 11-8 victory on Sunday night.

“Very nice to be on the winning side,” Murphy said. “Big game, fun game, national TV. We got to witness the best hitter in the game hit three homers.”

Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth off Derek Holland, then went deep again in the eighth against Tanner Scheppers.

Cabrera, the 2012 AL Triple Crown winner and this year’s leader in average and RBIs, went 4 for 4 with 5 RBIs and has 11 homers, one off the AL lead.

Still, the Tigers lost three of four to the Rangers, who won a four-game series for the first time after twice losing with a chance to do it.

“I’ve never seen a guy that puts the bat head on the ball as regular as he does, and on all pitches,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “He’s just a tremendous hitter. I’m very happy that he’s headed to the airport.”

Murphy’s homer gave the Rangers an 8-7 lead and answered a bases-loaded double from Prince Fielder that put Detroit up by two after the Rangers had walked Cabrera intentionally even though first base wasn’t open.

The go-ahead shot came against Jose Ortega (0-1), who hadn’t allowed a run in six relief appearances covering seven innings.

“He got me down 0-2, and I was basically in battle mode to do whatever I could to prolong the at-bat and get anything done in that situation,” Murphy said.

Robbie Ross (2-0) pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the win, and Joe Nathan worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth for his 13th save. He has saved all 36 career chances against Detroit.

The Tigers led 4-1 after Cabrera hit a three-run homer over the Texas bullpen in right-center field in the third and added a solo shot to center off Holland, who had given up just two homers in 57-plus innings this year after setting a club record by allowing 32 homers last year.

The Rangers had wiped out that lead — and another one after Fielder’s double — and were ahead 11-7 when Cabrera hit another solo homer to center off Scheppers.

“You don’t feel very good when guys hit three home runs and you lose the game,” Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. “Miggy never ceases to amaze you. I also take my hat off to Prince Fielder for that situation against a left-handed pitcher. Between the two of them, that was impressive.”

The Rangers overcame Detroit’s early lead with a four-run fifth highlighted by a pop fly double from Adrian Beltre that scored two and gave Texas a 5-4 lead.

Beltre went 4 for 5 with two doubles — both of them bloopers — and Geovany Soto and Lance Berkman had three hits apiece for the Rangers, who matched their season high with 18 hits.

Soto, who came in hitting .185, went 3 for 5 for the Rangers and had a fourth hit taken away when Andy Dirks caught a long drive to center while crashing into the wall.

Dirks’ catch on Soto ended a string of six straight Texas batters reaching in the sixth against Ortega (0-1), who had allowed only five base runners this season.

Soto started both Texas rallies with leadoff hits in the fifth and sixth innings, when the Rangers scored eight of their runs.

The light-hitting catcher had a double to start the fifth and scored on a groundout by Elvis Andrus. Murphy, who also had a sacrifice fly, walked and Berkman drove in Craig Gentry with a single before Beltre’s second double, which slipped out of Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta’s glove just inside the left-field line.

Washington scrambled to protect a 5-4 lead in the sixth, finally ordering reliever Jason Frasor to walk Cabrera with runners at first and second when he got behind 3-1. Washington brought in left-hander Michael Kirkman to face Fielder, but the lefty slugger ripped his second double to the wall in center field.

Soto started the sixth with a single, and Andrus walked with one out before Murphy pulled a pitch from Ortega to right to put Texas ahead for good.

“Neither team quit fighting,” Washington said. “It was a very good ballgame. It didn’t matter what you tried to do. Each team came back, and we got the final blow and were able to sustain.”

Holland and Detroit starter Doug Fister both went just 4 2-3 innings, the shortest outing of the year for Holland. The left-hander gave up eight hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts. Fister allowed nine hits and five runs.

Notes: Cabrera hit three homers on May 28, 2010, at home against Oakland. … Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler went on the 15-day disabled list with bruised ribs, and top prospect Jurickson Profar was brought up from Triple-A Round Rock. “I am the nurse manager for fifth floor oncology at Baylor T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital. I am responsible for managing the clinical, operational and strategic activities of the unit. This is a 24-bed, acute care unit, providing around-the-clock inpatient care for cancer patients. We have a staff of about 50. I am responsible for managing the clinical performance of this staff.”

What kind of degree is required for this position? 

“It is my understanding that all applicants for nurse manager positions are now required to possess a master’s degree. I have a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a bachelor’s degree in nursing. In addition, I possess a master’s of nursing degree with a specialty of Health Care Systems Management — MSN-HCSM. It is a nursing degree with a business management emphasis.”

How has your education prepared you for this position?

“The business management focus of the MSN-HCSM has been beneficial in preparing me for issues related to human resource management, financial planning, program development, statistical analysis and strategic planning. All of these are necessary tools for the leaders of today’s dynamic and challenging health care environment.”

Do you have any advice for someone interested in pursuing a similar career?

“First, every indication is that advanced education is an absolute requirement for managing and leading nursing as we adjust to change when necessary. It is even more important that we prepare leaders. However, not to adjust to change, but to lead change. You get experience doing this in a program such as the one I completed at Loyola. If you want to be a manager or leader, you will need advanced education.

“Secondly, decide on your priorities. Pursue your passion, but be true to yourself. If you want to be a clinical leader, pursue certification. If you want to be a people or program leader, pursue your advanced education.”

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas police officer went to the hospital Sunday night after his patrol car was hit by another car.

It happened at the intersection of South Walton Walker Boulevard and Duncanville Road at 8 p.m.

The drive and passenger of the other car were not hurt.

The officer is recovering from minor injuries, and says he is alright, just a little sore.

No charges have been filed as of the time of this report.

GRANBURY (CBS 11) - Residents in Rancho Brazos put on brave faces as they examined what became of their homes after a massive tornado.

There was limited access to the disaster zone, but media members were allowed in Sunday for a short period of time.

Entering the neighborhood, there was seemingly unending devastation. House after house, tree after tree, car after car, smashed and mutilated by Mother Nature.

“I look across the street and there’s a tangled mess of cars and trees. You just couldn’t comprehend that within an hours time, it looked like a wasteland,” said long-time resident Shirley Warren.

But a symbol of hope was one of the first things erected inside the disaster zone: an American flag.

Miguel Morales surveyed the slab of concrete where his mobile home once stood. He can hardly believe that he and his family survived.

Morales and his wife took cover in their bath room and shielded their three children, ages 10, 8 and 7 on the night of the storm.

“I just closed my eyes and prayed,” he said.

His 10 year old son, Dominic, vividly remembered that fateful night.

“When I was in the bathroom I said, uh, ‘If I die, I always love you,’” he said. “When the tornado came, we — the tornado picked us up and then dropped us over there.”

All five family members were swept up and away by the EF4 tornado, landing in different spots.

Miraculously, they all walked away with only cuts and bruises.

Dominic suffered the worst injury, a deep cut that required 9 stitches.

With the help of volunteers, including one of the children’s teachers, the Morales family was able to find their car keys, social security cards and birth certificates, but not much else.

Everything else, besides a few toys, some clothes and other small items, was buried in a mangled pile of rubble.

Carolyn Sozen, a teacher, said  8 of her students were directly affected by the tornado. She said it was important for her to be with her students during this time of need.

“We just wanted to come and support the family more than anything,” she said.

Sozen said the other students in her class have been very concerned about their fellow students who haven’t been at school due to the tornado.

“The kids that were not affected were very compassionate, concerned. Thinking about them wanting to bring them their own toys, wanting to bring them their own clothes, asking for their phone numbers so they can call them,” Sozen said.

Many of the people here may have lost everything, but they are just grateful to be alive.

“I cried the first day. I was scared, but not anymore. I just say thanks God, for giving me another opportunity for life,” Morales said.

Officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety will continue patrolling the Rancho Brazos neighborhood until further notice.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Lemurs at the Dallas Zoo now have a new place to have lunch thanks to the efforts of Stanford Alumni and members of the Dallas County Master Gardeners.

The crew planted new edible plants for the animals in a garden located in the Dallas Zoo’s Lemur Lookout exhibit. They planted 100 herbs and other plants for the garden, including lemon balm, chives, oregano, thyme, mint, sage and rosemary along with maiden grass.

In addition to adding tasty tidbits for lemur’s to munch on, participants covered exposed areas of the garden with mulch; making for a much more lush ambiance. But the gardens, located in a public area of the park aren’t just for looks.

The browse garden project is a partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Dallas County Master Gardeners, and are educational as well as functional.

The browse garden project: provides diet enrichment plants for many of the Zoo animals, reduces cost and fuel consumption used for shipping purchased food, avoids the use of chemicals and promotes environmental protection, according to zoo officials.

LAS VEGAS (105.3 THE FAN) - So Mark Cuban, Chris Paul and Tiger Woods walk into a bar…

It sounds like the beginning of a joke in need of a punchline. But in fact, it’s the rich and famous gathering for a weekend in Las Vegas to benefit The Tiger Woods Foundation. This particular event was ‘Poker Night,’ a $10,000 buy-in tournament.

But for Dallas Mavericks owner Cuban (and Paul, his primary target in free agency), the stakes are, of course, higher.

The Dallas Mavericks aren’t allowed to venture into recruiting Chris Paul or any other 2013 NBA free agents until midnight, July 1.

But that doesn’t mean the rich and famous can’t rub elbows for a good cause.

Tiger Woods and skier girlfriend Lindsey Vonn are the hosts this weekend at his annual “Tiger Jam.” The photo is from “Poker Night” at Moorea Beach Club Beachside Casino at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. It’s a $10,000 buy-in poker tournament that benefits The Tiger Woods Foundation … and of course, that 10 grand fee keeps the riff-raff out.

And invites the likes of Cuban and Paul in.

DallasBasketball.com reported last week that Paul is the Mavs’ No. 1 target (with Dwight Howard No. 2) in free agency this summer. Paul can re-sign with the Clippers for five years and $107,343,500 or can join a new team like Dallas for four years and $79,714,196.

The Mavs have gained and retained cap room for the last two years for the pursuit of a player of Paul’s level to team with Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki himself is fully invested in the recruiting process. Meanwhile, as improbable as it seems, In this space, we have revealed some of the Mavs’ thinking when it comes to ways to acquire Paul AND Howard . But again, acquiring one superstar is challenge enough, especially when it means he is guaranteed $27 mil less to leave his existing team.

It’s all a gamble of sorts — pun intended — and one that cannot officially begin until July 1. But nothing precludes the parties from doing good deeds for charity.

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – Updated 9 p.m.:  Forty-four-year old Jennifer Krieger and her teenage daughter were found dead Sunday after an apparent double homicide in a Grand Prairie home, police said.

A family member called police after she couldn’t get a hold of the residents and then discovered all the doors were locked at their home in the 1800 block of Sandra Lane.

“Once they forced entry, they found two deceased females — a mother and teenage daughter,” according to Det. Mark Beseda, Grand Praire Police Department.

Grand Prairie Police Officers forced entry into the home in the 1800 block of Sandra Lane and found the bodies.

“Once he got to the third try and you heard the door open, the family immediately fell out and cried and that’s when you knew,” said neighbor Jodi Boyd.

The official cause of death has not yet been determined, but this incident is being handled as a double-homicide.

Grand Prairie police said they have a suspect in custody and that the slayings could be related to domestic violence.

They are still trying to determine the suspect’s relationship to the victims. His name has not been released.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An argument over gasoline money left a woman dead early Sunday and her cousin in jail accused of running over her twice then heading home to go to sleep, police said.

The victim’s mother later called the suspect and persuaded her to go to the hospital, where officers took her into custody.

She was identified by police as Kassandra Martinez, 20, of Dallas. She faces a murder charge.

The victim, Yunel Aguilar, 24, of Dallas, died at Parkland Memorial Hospital shortly after the incident.

An arrest warrant affidavit gave this account of the death:

Aguilar, her sisters, and Martinez went to Viviana’s Club on the 1100 block of Emerald Street in Martinez’s 2002 black Volkswagen Passat. They agreed to give Martinez money for gas because the tank was almost empty.

At the club, the women argued about whether or not to leave and get something to eat.

Martinez left the club without her cousins, driving off with the women’s purses in the car trunk and stopping at an Exxon gas station at 11366 Emerald Street.

Aguilar and her sisters caught rides with other people from the club, saw Martinez at the gas station and had their drivers pull into the gas station so they could get their belongings.

Aguilar and one of her sisters walked toward Martinez’s car, talking to the suspect as they approached. Martinez asked them if they were going to pay for gas, and they said no.

Aguilar was at the back of the car trying to get Martinez to open the truck. One of the sisters told police that she then heard Martinez say, “Well, if that’s the way it is” and Martinez put the car into reverse and backed up rapidly, running over Aguilar. Then Martinez drove forward, running over Aguilar a second time.

Martinez then drove away from the gas station and went home.

In an interview with investigators, Martinez said she had not been drinking or taking drugs before she drove over her cousin. She told authorities she did not feel any bumps or hit any curbs or poles when she drove out of the gas station.

Martinez’s bond amount is $150,000.

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Texas Rangers announced this afternoon that the club has placed second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Saturday, with a right intercostal strain. To take Kinsler’s place on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled infielder Jurickson Profar (#13) from Triple-A Round Rock.

Kinsler did not start the past 2 games due to the injury, although he pinch-ran on Friday vs. Detroit.  He is batting .302 with 7 home runs, 11 doubles, 20 RBI, and 24 runs scored in 40 games for Texas this season.  His 16 multi-hit games are tied for 7th-most in the American League.  The first date he would be eligible to return is June 2.

Profar, 20, will be seeking his first major league action in 2013.  He has spent the entire season with Round Rock, batting .278 (40-144) with 27 runs, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 19 RBI, and 21 walks in 37 games for the Express.  In his last game at Triple-A last night vs. Colorado Springs, he went 3-for-4 with his first career multi-homer game, scoring 3 runs with 3 RBI.  Profar has hit safely in 8 straight for Round Rock at .424 (14-33) with 6 runs, 2 doubles, 3 homers, and 8 RBI in that span.  He has seen action at both shortstop and second base this season.

Profar’s only other major league action came last year with Texas, batting .176 (3-17) with a homer, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI in 9 games.  His last game in a Texas uniform was the 2012 American League Wild Card Game against Baltimore, when he hit a pinch single in the 9th inning.  He became just the 6th teenager ever with a postseason hit.

With these moves, the Rangers still have 39 players on the club’s 40-man roster.

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Arlington Fire Department divers located a body believed to be that of a boater reported missing Saturday night.

The body was located in the general area where witnesses saw a man go into the water when his canoe capsized in Lake Arlington.

Dive teams from Fort Worth and Arlington resumed the search about 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning after searching until about midnight the night before.

Arlington police are in charge of the investigation.

Identification of the man is pending a review by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office.

GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) - Residents in the Rancho Brazos neighborhood got their first look at the devastation caused by an EF-4 tornado.

Residents had been kept out the neighborhood for their safety, but today stood in line for hours to get a permit from authorities to allow them to get into their neigborhood to see the damage.

Law enforcement officers are allowing people in and out of the neighborhood through one entrance, checking every vehicle for permits and turning away those who don’t have one.

Sheriff Roger Deeds said they handed out 160 permits today to residents and their family members who were there to help with the clean up. Forty-six other permits were granted for volunteers, insurance adjustors and clergy, who were there to help residents.

A curfew from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. remained in tact.

For residents like Laurie Lovelady and her family were stunned and saddened by the devastation they encountered.

“When we left out of there that night it was dark so we didn’t see all of the devastation that was there,” said Lovelady.

The sunshine today exposed what darkness had covered the night the tornado hit.

Lovelady and her sister, Pat Jones, were inside the home they share when the tornado struck.

“The house itself as far as we can remember it never budged. The only thing was the windows were broken and debris was coming in the windows,” Lovelady said.

Lovelady and her sister were some of the few whose homes remained standing.

But not all were as lucky. Many familes dug through piles of rubble, hoping to salvage anything they could.

“The worst part about it was when we first rolled up there was kids out there with nothing. That’s the worst part of the whole thing for me,” Keith Bush, who was helping Lovelady and Jones salvage items and assess the damage. “My wife started crying because those were the kids she deals with at the school. They live out there.”

The neighborhood was a symbol of home for  so many because many built their homes with their own hands and with the help of Habitat for Humanity.

“It won’t ever be the same,” Lovelady said.

But the sisters say with the help of friends and loved ones, they’ll recover and beleive hope will be reborn in that neighborhood once again.

ARLINGTON (AP) — Elvis Andrus had a career-high five hits, Mitch Moreland homered and Texas roughed up Anibal Sanchez in the Rangers’ 7-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night.

Andrus scored three runs, had two RBIs and stole a pair of bases as he hit lead off for the second straight game in place of ailing second baseman Ian Kinsler. Andrus was a home run shy of the cycle and finished off his 5-for-5 game with a single to right in the eighth.

Moreland hit a solo shot off Sanchez leading off the third, his 10th home run of the season.

Sanchez (4-4) gave up a season-high six runs in 2 2-3 innings, his shortest start in almost two years. The right-hander yielded nine hits, walked two and struck out two as his ERA jumped from 2.05 to 2.77.

The Rangers (28-15) have the best record in the American League, one game better than the New York Yankees.

Texas starter Justin Grimm (3-3) gave up two runs in 6 2-3 innings to snap a three-game losing streak. The rookie allowed seven hits and struck out two while throwing a career-high 105 pitches.

In his second career start last June, Grimm surrendered six runs and eight hits in one inning against the Tigers.

Detroit has lost seven of 11 games and dropped a game behind the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central.

Torii Hunter snapped an 0-for-15 slide with an RBI double and he scored two batters later on Prince Fielder’s single, bringing the Tigers within 4-2 in the third.

Kinsler missed his second straight game with bruised ribs, an injury that was aggravated after he was hit by a pitch from Justin Verlander on Thursday night.

Andrus singled on Sanchez’s first pitch of the game, then stole second and advanced to third on catcher Alex Avila’s throwing error. The Texas shortstop scored on Avila’s passed ball.

The Rangers extended their lead to 4-0 with three runs in the second.

Andrus got the inning going with an RBI triple that tipped the end of Hunter’s glove in right and he scored on Sanchez’s throwing error.

Lance Berkman capped the second inning with an RBI single.

Sanchez threw 32 pitches in each of the first two innings. This was his shortest start since going 1 2-3 innings Aug. 10, 2011, as a member of the Marlins.

Moreland led off the third with a 415-foot blast into the Detroit bullpen in left. It was Moreland’s seventh home run in May.

Andrus ended Sanchez’s night with an RBI single that stretched Texas’ lead to 6-2 with two outs in the third.

Berkman’s RBI double scored Andrus, who led off the sixth with a double.

DALLAS (CBS 11) – Americans held there collective breaths Saturday night, hoping they had the winning ticket in a $600 million dollar Powerball drawing. The buying pace was furious. Texans alone spent more than $26 million dollars on Powerball chances on Saturday — some $2 million an hour.

“I had a dream that I won. So now I’m going to play to win,” R.L. Horton told CBS 11 News while shopping at Fuel City Dallas.

Most of us know it’s a pipe dream … still, what would we do with $600 million dollars? “I’d be a blessing to someone in my family, hopefully my kids, my church home, maybe take a couple of trips, buy a house and car” said Darian Powell, adding, “Especially take care of Mom!”

Igor Smiljcic bought 15 tickets. “$600million?” he asked. “Buy half of Dallas, maybe?”

But the odds of winning are $175 million to one. The downside, says licensed clinical therapist Melody Brooke, is that many poor people spend too much on trying to hit the big one.

“They’re the ones that most desire to get out of their financial circumstances so they’re more driven to do that when they feel helpless to do anything else.” But when a big payday comes along, many of us join in, and Brooke says that’s natural. “It’s a funny thing, I think we all have an inner gambler that wants to come out now and then. Something like that is irrisistable.”

So, hopefuls play, some for the first time, like Rudy Barron. “My wife always picks numbers and she never plays them and sometimes they come up so I’m thinking I should try to go ahead and play it.”

Chad Bartlett is a first timer, too. “One ticket is better than no ticket; the odds go up a whole lot with that first ticket.”

Larce Hodge, a friend of Horton’s has his own system. “Normally pick and hope, that’s about it,” he says, but Horton interrupts him saying, “You know what I do? I’ve got all the numbers in a jar, I put put a top on it — I shake them up and the ones that come out that’s the ones I put on my ticket.”

And he says he’s won $2900 that way in other lotteries.

Powerball operators say it’s likely every possible combination has been bought somewhere but there isn’t a winner tonight, Wednesday’s pot could approach a billion dollars.

GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) - Life is getting back to normal in Granbury after an EF-4 tornado hit the community Wednesday.

At times the twisters showed little mercy. Some people lost their homes, others — their lives or loved ones.

Most residents CBS 11 spoke to have expressed gratitude for simply making it through the storm.

One of those survivors, Christy Green, spoke about her experience from John Peter Smith Hospital where she is recovering. She’s battered from the storm, but up and walking… eager to move on.

“I’m still in shock — seriously,” said Green.

She had no idea her home was right in the path of the deadly tornado, which tore through her neighborhood.

“We were watching the storm, and he was like it’s going to be okay. It’s just a little hail…”

But it didn’t take long for Green to realize she and her two sons and dog needed to take cover. The family huddled tightly together in the closet, their house taking the brunt of the tornado’s wrath. They could hear destruction around them, brick by brick, frame by frame.

“And it just got louder and louder and you could hear it just snapping and breaking the house,” according to Green, who soon realized her closet wasn’t a safe haven anymore.

“I looked at Brendon and he goes I love you mom. I said grab the closet door and shut it and he went to grab it and he flew out. And I was right behind him.”

Airborne, Green started praying.

“I said please I can not take another minute please just stop it.”

Her prayers were answered as she fell to the ground. The family had survived but not with out injury.

Cuts and bruises are marks left from her terrifying ordeal. The tornado that ripped apart her house and hijacked her for those moments in the air left her with a fractured neck, staples in her knee and bleeding on her brain. She almost lost an ear, too.

But she hasn’t lost her smile despite the pain she has suffered.

Her family is staying with a friend since their Habitat for Humanity home was damaged. Her teenage son will attend Texas A&M and plans to study meteorology.

IRVING (AP) - Keegan Bradley still hasn’t gotten things right on the 18th hole at the Byron Nelson Championship, even when finally going left.

The bogeys on the closing hole at TPC Four Seasons haven’t cost him the lead yet.

Bradley overcame consecutive bogeys early and bogeyed No. 18 for the third round in a row Saturday to finish with a 2-under 68 that kept him in the lead.

“(Sunday) is the day. Right down the middle,” Bradley said about that last hole. “I’m due!”

Bradley’s 13-under 197 total gave him a one-stroke lead over Sang-Moon Bae, who had his third consecutive 66. Tom Gillis was two strokes back after a 67.

After going way right off the tee at No. 18 the first two rounds, Bradley smashed his drive Saturday down the left side toward the water. The ball stayed dry, but settled behind a large rock and forced him to punch back into the fairway. His approach settled on the front edge of the green and he almost saved par — the ball rolled just over the lip of the cup.

“I thought I made the putt, which would have been exciting,” he said. “But 5 on that hole from where I hit it off the tee is a pretty good score.”

On Sunday, Bradley will be trying to win at TPC Four Seasons for the second time in three years. He could also become the Nelson’s first wire-to-wire winner since Tom Watson led alone at the end of all four rounds in 1980.

“Should be easier than having to come from behind,” he said. “I have felt comfortable out there, haven’t felt nervous. I feel like I put the time in, I feel like this is where I should be when I play well is near the lead or in the lead.”

Bradley got his first PGA Tour victory as a rookie at the Nelson two years ago. He followed that by winning the PGA Championship later that season and the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational in 2012. The nephew of LPGA great Pat Bradley came from behind on the final day for all of those wins

After following his opening course-record 60 with a 69 on Friday, Bradley started the third round with a three-stroke lead. He stayed alone at top of the leaderboard throughout.

Scott Piercy’s 66 matched Bae and three others for the best round on a breezy Texas day. Piercy was fourth at 10 under, two strokes ahead of Gary Woodland (68), Harris English (68), John Huh (69) and 2011 Masters champ Charl Schwartzel (69).

When 83 players made the cut of even par, there were threesomes instead of traditional twosomes for the third round. That put Bradley in the same group with Bae and Gillis, who started the round tied for second place.

A secondary cut trimmed the field to 72 players for the final round, when Bradley plays with Bae in the final group. Gillis is paired with Piercy.

“Keegan is playing pretty good, but you got to play ‘em all, see how it shakes out,” said Gillis, who missed the cuts in his previous five tournaments.

Gillis was the last player in the field with a bogey Saturday, when he three-putted from 20 feet at the 203-yard 17th. He got that stroke right back when he blasted out of a greenside bunker for an unexpected birdie at No. 18.

“Makes dinner taste better, that’s for sure,” Gillis said.

Bradley first got to 12 under with a 13-foot birdie at the 505-yard third hole and saved par at the next hole after driving into a fairway bunker.

His consecutive bogeys came when he two-putted for bogey after missing the green at the par-3 fifth and then drove into the rough at No. 6. But after a long wait to tee off at the 542-yard seventh hole, Bradley got to the green in two and two-putted from 14 feet for a birdie.

When Bradley’s drive at No. 11 settled just a few inches above the top edge of a bunker, it looked like he might have some trouble. But he hit his approach shot onto the green, 34 feet from the cup, and sank the birdie putt to get to 13 under. He blasted within 12 feet from a greenside bunker at the par-5 16th hole for birdie.

Bae, the 26-year-old South Korean who has 11 international victories but none on the PGA Tour, was quickly within a stroke of the lead after birdies on the first two holes. He made a 9-footer on the first and curled in a 32-foot birdie putt at the 223-yard second hole.

A 12-footer for birdie at the eighth hole got Bae to 10 under, again only a stroke back. But Bradley made a 14-foot birdie putt to close out the front nine and made the turn with a two-stroke lead over Bae and Gillis, who also made a birdie from 14 feet at the ninth hole to get to 10 under.

“Only play just my game,” Bae said when asked how difficult it will be trying to overtake Bradley. “Nobody knows.”

Notes: English twice had three birdies in a row, including approaches of 5-6 feet on holes 11-13 to get to 10 under right after missing a 3-foot par putt at No. 10. … Huh, the 2012 PGA Tour rookie of the year, had an eagle 2 at the 14th hole when he holed a shot from 162 yards. … Two-time major champion Angel Cabrera missed the green at the par-3 fifth hole, but chipped in from 27 feet for his second consecutive birdie to make up for the double-bogey 6 at No. 3. He finished with 11 consecutive pars in a 70 that left him seven strokes off the lead.

About 300 people gathered for Billie Sol Estes’ funeral Saturday, four days after he died in his sleep at the age of 88. (credit: courtesy of Sol family)

GRANBURY (AP/CBSDFW.COM) — Billie Sol Estes may have been infamous as a swindler who spent time in prison for Texas-sized schemes, but his family and friends say he was a loving, generous man who once gave his Cadillac to a stranger who needed a ride.

About 300 people gathered for Estes’ funeral Saturday, four days after he died in his sleep at the age of 88. A dozen colorful flower bouquets lined the front of the church.

“Those of us who knew Billie Sol know that he was a walking paradox,” said Trudy Allison, a family friend. “We’ve been told he was Robin Hood, and we’ve been told … he was a bandit. We’ve heard both good and bad. We knew and loved him and understood his goodness.”

Estes became one of the most notorious men in America in 1962 when he was accused of looting a federal crop subsidy program. The scandal during President John F. Kennedy’s administration involving phony financial statements and non-existent fertilizer tanks led to the ouster of several lower-level agriculture officials.

After an earlier conviction had been thrown out by the U.S. Supreme Court over the use of cameras in the courtroom, Estes was convicted in 1965 of mail fraud and conspiracy to defraud. Sentenced to 15 years in prison, Estes was freed in 1971 after serving six years.

But new charges were brought against him in 1979, and later that year he was convicted of mail fraud and conspiracy to conceal assets from the Internal Revenue Service. He was sentenced to 10 more years but was freed a second time in 1983.

The Rev. Lana Bradley told mourners that Estes ministered to fellow prisoners and obtained permission to baptize them.

“I’m not going to stand here today and tell you that Billy Sol was a saint, but neither are any of us in this sanctuary today,” Bradley said during the service in Granbury, a town ravaged by a deadly tornado earlier this week. The church was not damaged.

Estes’ grandson, Clay Stevens, recalled visiting his grandfather in prison, but said he didn’t understand because he was a child. When Stevens was a teenager, Estes liked to joke and embarrass him but he also urged him to always be truthful, Stevens said.

Estes once asked one of his daughters to drive him to a nearby town for a hamburger, and after he ordered water, he told the cashier that he wanted to pay for the meals of all customers behind him — then stole a soft drink when the employee’s back was turned, Allison said as those in the church chuckled.

Estes, who became a millionaire before he was 30, often gave money to less-fortunate children in town and paid for them to go to camp, Allison said.

“He was loving, giving, perplexing,” she said.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Homicide detectives have arrested Richard Ramon Angton, 31, in connection with the killing of a man in West Dallas.

Joseph Taylor, 44, was shot multiple times about 1:30 p.m. Friday at 4027 Westmoreland Road. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue where he died shortly after arrival.

A witness who was at the location with Taylor before the shooting identified Angton, according to police.

Police say they believe a handgun found at the location next to the victim was fired by Angton.

An officer who responded to the scene asked Taylor who shot him as he lay injured on the ground. He replied, “Rashaud,” said the officer.

Police located Angton at Medical City of Plano seeking medical attention for a gunshot wound.

He was arrested just after midnight Saturday. His bail has been set at $150,000, according to court records.

TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A 29-year-old Benbrook man has been charged with murder after an apparent “road rage” incident May 10.

Police said Jesse Ray Ybarra pulled over and started arguing on the side of the road with another driver.

The confrontation turned deadly when, according to investigators, Ybarra pulled a gun and fired several shots at the other man.

Jim Leyland earned his 1,699th win as a major league manager as the Tigers remained tied with Cleveland atop the AL Central.

Porcello (2-2) allowed one run and five hits in 5 2-3 innings with six strikeouts and a walk as the Tigers rebounded from a 10-4 loss to Texas on Thursday night in which ace Justin Verlander was knocked out in the third inning. Porcello is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in four starts since giving up nine runs in two-thirds of an inning April 20 against the Los Angeles Angels.

Geovany Soto homered in his second straight game, a solo shot off Porcello leading off the fifth that cut the Rangers’ deficit in half.

Joaquin Benoit escaped a first-and-third jam with one out in the eighth when he induced Nelson Cruz’s double-play grounder.

Jose Valverde got three groundouts around a one-out walk to Soto in the ninth, getting his fourth save in five chances this season.

Rookie Nick Tepesch (3-4) gave up two runs, six hits and three walks in five innings as Detroit stopped the Rangers’ three-game winning streak.

Andy Dirks led off the fifth with a bloop single to center and advanced to second on a groundout.

Cabrera, hitting .509 (27 for 53) with runners in scoring position, lined an 0-1 pitchoff the wall in left field near the out of town scoreboard for his AL-leading 42nd RBI. Cabrera scored on Alex Avila’s sacrifice fly.

GRANBURY (CBS 11) - People who escaped alive from the Hood County subdivision where six people died in a tornado, will go back for the first time Saturday morning. Even those who left with their house still standing, aren’t entirely sure how much is left.

Patricia Barron was one of those hoping to go back in Saturday. She and her five kids are splitting time between her sister’s small home in Granbury, and her father’s house outside of town. Her kids are bored. They’re asking for their toys, and when they can go back home. She only has one answer for them.

“We can’t,” she said. “We just can’t go home.”

The family lived in a mobile home that she says was still standing when they left. She knew someone’s truck was in their backyard. Returning though could be difficult for a family already struggling with the memory of what happened.

“They’re petrified,” she said of her kids. “They’re not sleeping right. They wake up telling me that they can hear the wind howling; the explosion that we heard.”

Eddie Martin could tell her that returning won’t be any easier. The Colorado resident was sifting through what was left of his grandmother’s home Friday. The tornado picked it up, and tossed it to the ground, while his grandmother, mother and father were inside. Only his other survived.

“We had planned to do something over the summer,” he said. “We didn’t expect to be doing this.”

Families will be allowed back in at 8 a.m. Only residents with identification, and those helping them will be allowed in.

Sheriff Roger Deeds said Friday that he didn’t want to keep people away from their property any longer than he had to.

SPRINGTOWN (CBS 11 NEWS) - A North Texas mother who endured the trauma of witnessing her son’s death is speaking out for the first time.

Shannon Norton spoke to CBS 11 News about her 10-year-old son Haven who was killed when he was run over by a school bus on Monday.

“My son was a loving child my son loved everybody,” says Norton.

Haven was just days away from graduating to the fifth grade at Springtown Elementary.

His mother says he enjoyed riding the school bus and was running to catch it when he tripped and fell underneath it.

“He touched many peoples lives that I didn’t even know that he did,” says Haven’s mother. “He’s brought me from my darkest nights to my brightest days. He was my rock. He was my everything,”

The Norton family moved to North Texas  last year from California.

In fact, Haven’s grandfather was a school bus driver there.

“Where the bus drivers get out of the bus and escort the kids, from kindergarten all the way to high school,” says Jimmie Norton, Haven’s Grandfather.

The Norton’s want Texas to adopt California’s law requiring school bus drivers to get out during pickups and drop offs.

“I would like for that to be nationwide mandatory,” says Shannon Norton.

On a Wednesday night, dozens gathered outside the Norton’s home to celebrate Haven’s life.

It’s that support from the community that Haven’s family is so grateful for during this difficult time.

“They’ve always said Texas had a big heart. Boy that’s true,” says Janet McCorry, Haven’s Grandmother.

Haven’s funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday at Cowboy Country Church in Bridgeport.

The area Lion’s Club has offered to cover much of the cost of the funeral.

Friends of the family have set up a fund through Wells Fargo Bank for those who would like to contribute to their immediate needs.

The bodies of the two men, ages 59 and 23, were found in a Fairview home at about Friday afternoon.  Police responded to the home after the victims’ estranged wife and mother went to the home to check on them.  She told police through a window she saw her estranged husband sitting unresponsive in a chair.  When police arrived, they determined the crime scene appeared to be several days old.

Police have not released a motive for the double murder.  Nor have they released the names of the suspect or the victim.

The suspect’s car was found in an Addison hotel parking lot hours after the bodies were found.

Police say they have responded to a disturbance at the home between the two victims within the past six months.  All three men shared the home and had bee living there for quite awhile, according to police.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Authorities are investigating the Friday afternoon shooting death of a man in West Dallas.

Joseph Taylor, 44, was shot multiple times about 1:30 p.m. Friday at 4027 Westmoreland Road. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue where he died shortly after arrival.

Police have not identified his killer.

Now, a little-known government agency is studying how to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.

Demolition crews are now finishing what the explosions started.

Daniel Hororwitz is the managing director of the U.S. Chemical Safety Board, an independent government agency which studies industrial chemical accidents, like the one in West.

Horowitz says, “This is really the worst community damage we’ve seen anywhere across the country from a chemical incident.”

The 28-34 tons of ammonium nitrate that exploded in the facility was the equivalent of 20,000 pounds of dynamite.

Officials will consider strengthening federal regulations for handling and storing the chemical, which isn’t considered extremely hazardous by the EPA.

Horowitz says, “One of the tragic ironies in this case is this facility, West Fertilizer, was regulated by EPA for the ammonia tanks that were present because they were considered toxic, but it wasn’t regulated for the ammonium nitrate.”

The Chemical Safety Board is also looking into whether fire codes are strong enough. Right now in Texas, there are no fire codes for counties with fewer than 250,000 people. In fact, the state prohibits it.

But smaller counties next to larger population areas can request a state waiver.

Horowitz says, “This is something that’s really in the benefit of everybody to have a minimum floor that these are the practices that industries are going to adhere to.”

He says they’ll study planning and zoning practices for placing high-hazard facilities close to schools and homes.

Bettye Tucker owns what’s left of the apartment complex.

She says, “It’s hard to believe that it’s so totally destroyed, and I don’t think, I”ll build it back right now.”

The work the Chemical Safety Board is conducting will be discussed during a hearing in the U.S. Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee at a later date.

CLEBURNE (CBS 11 NEWS) - The massive clean up in the tornado torn town has begun. Several hundred people registered at the Church of Christ in Cleburne to volunteer to help some of the 600 families affected by the EF3 tornado.

The National Weather Service announced Friday the storm was a mile wide.

And it’s effects were easily seen.

Hundreds of homes had their roofs ripped off, debris was scattered everywhere and fences were down in many places.

The city’s curfew, from sundown to sun up, remained in effect Friday.

Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain offered a stern warning to potential looters Friday.

“If you’re thinking about picking up electronics or a new TV or some new furniture gratis from a citizen in our community, you can forget it. We have armed officers that are going to be patrolling and you need to go somewhere else,” Cain said.

Dozens of power crews lined the streets, repairing and replacing downed power lines.

School was cancelled Thursday and Friday, but students will head back to their classrooms Monday.

Some moms used the time off to their kids a lesson, that helping others is important.

Jessica Johnson brought her kids out near Lake Pat Cleburne to pick up debris.

“It’s my city and…my kids are out of school because of it, and I wanted them to come out here to help, too,” Johnson said.

Volunteers along Lakeshore Drive used saws to take condense and remove dozens of uprooted trees.

Dr. Alton Flynn, who lives on that street, was upstairs in his home, which now had no roof.

He was in his home when the storm blew through.

“My wife was yelling to me saying, ‘Quick! Quick! Get in the house!’ And we jumped behind the sofa and pulled the sofa covers, the cushions, and we covered up with those,” Flynn said.

When the tornado had left, Flynn couldn’t believe what he saw.

“The biggest shock of all was that the whole roof, I mean the whole second story was gone!” he said.

His house nearly completely destroyed, Dr. Flynn  somehow remains in good spirits.

“God blessed us beyond words. We are not hurt and everybody is okay and that’s what counts,” he said. “Houses and buildings and bricks can be replaced but human life can’t.”

Perhaps it was his faith that saved him and his wife.

“All the windows in the living room were just plastered like an explosion and the glass was stuff in the sofas like daggers,” he said.

Flynn, his son and at least a dozen volunteers helped him sift through the rubble to salvage what they could.

“We have a bunch of wedding photos and newspaper clippings from when they were married,” said Chris Flynn, Dr. Flynn’s son.

Despite the circumstances, as they looked at the old photos and mementos, Dr. Flynn and his family were able to see the good in everything.

“These kinds of things are the things you run across. Things you would never again look at for the rest of your whole life but all of a sudden a tornado exposes them all,” Dr. Flynn said with a smile.

A curfew remained in effect for the city of Cleburne through Friday night and could possibly remain in force throughout the weekend.  Mayor Scott Cain ordered the curfew and promised violators will be arrested and prosecuted.

Cain is also holding a town hall meeting for storm victims at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the intersection of Hyde Park and Longfellow.  Updates on the cleanup progress and the opportunity to ask questions will be provided.

GRANBURY (CBS 11 NEWS) - Amid the tons of debris left in the wake of the Granbury tornado, precious mementos are tucked in the rubble, as well.

“I found a letter, it said, ‘my darling sweet Glenda… 1966′,” says Lynn English.  “Very sweet letter, and my daughter and I pretty much cried yesterday picking up all these things.  I want to get it back to the family.”

And now, she has.

Glenda Whitehead, 64, and Robert Whitehead, 69, died together in Wednesday’s tornado.  And as heartbreaking as the loss is for the family, a relative told CBS 11 today that neither “would have been worth a plug nickel without the other.”

Family members say the Whiteheads had no children; but, were the adoring aunt and uncle that could be counted on to spoil the younger family members, while adoring each other for 48 years.

The love letter was just one of what became a bag full of pictures, old report cards and papers that English collected from her yard– the tornado having picked up and strewn the items for miles.

“All these pictures and postcards and letters… it’s heartbreaking,” says English.

Volunteers are helping to comb through the piles of debris searching for personal items.  Located items are being collected at the Hood County Library.

“It seems trivial when someone loses a house,” says Courtney Kincaid, Director of the Hood County Library.  “But, maybe, it’s something to help them get through it.”

Kincaid says someone even found a half of a will.  Any sensitive items containing financial information curity numbers will be kept behind the counter at the library.  But, Kincaid is encouraging storm victims to stop by the library to look through the growing pile of pictures and postcards that have been recovered.

“It’s their life.  It’s moments of their life and I think they’ll appreciate it.”

The Whitehead’s family certainly has.

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Dallas Schools Superintendent Mike Miles continues to face criticism over the principal evaluation process that could remove campus administrators from their jobs.

At the same time, Miles himself is subject to a performance evaluation by the Board of Education.

But trustees have delayed the evaluation, bypassing a contractual deadline of May 15.

“We agreed to move the performance part of the evaluation to July 15,” Board President Lew Blackburn said Friday.

The delay, according to Blackburn, is tied to student achievement data not yet compiled.

But that extra window for the evaluation also gives Miles time at acquire something he doesn’t have: State Superintendent Certification.

When Miles signed his DISD contract, he agreed to comply with state law and obtain Superintendent Certification from the Texas Board of Educator Certification.

A year has passed since Miles signed the contract for the DISD job, but officials with the Texas Education Agency say Miles is not listed as a certificate holder.

“My understanding is, he doesn’t have it.  We gave him six months to get a probationary certificate. That didn’t happen,” according to Blackburn.

Not only would Miles be removed as Schools Chief without the state certification, he stands to lose potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in incentive pay without high appraisal in his job evaluation from Trustees.

According to Miles’ signed contract with DISD,  he could receive up to $75,000 in extra compensation with a strong job evaluation rating.  Another $125,000 could be given to Miles, based on student achievement and student graduation rates.

Miles did not respond to CBS 11 News inquiries regarding the job evaluation issue today.  Sources say he is working to complete the State Certification process.

GRANBURY (CBS 11) - Eddie Martin struggles as he looks through the rubble of what was once his grandmother’s house in Granbury. His parents, Tommy and Betsy Martin, routinely took dinner next door to his grandmother, Ann Davis. They were there when the tornado hit. Davis’ home was lifted, shredded, and dropped 100-yards away at a neighbor’s.

Ann Davis and Tommy Martin died there.

“Every second of every minute I’m here is a struggle,’ he said. Eddie spent all day Thursday at the hospital with his mother, Betsy Martin. “She’s still hurt pretty badly, she’s got extensive injuries,” according to Martin. Broken shoulder and wrist, every rib as well; and two collapsed lungs. Still, Martin says, “She’s doing better than expected but still got a ways to go. I couldn’t be happier with her progress.

For Martin, the circumstances are bizarre. He works for FEMA and is used to helping others in a disaster. Now he’s the one in need. “I just flew in here from Denver yesterday and I feel like I’ve been here a week already. I just — it’s mind-numbingly painful.”

Residents of Granbury are struggling to find normalcy. While DeCordova Ranch is open, Rancho Brazos next door is still off-limits to all but emergency personnel. Gas leaks have been corrected, but it’s still a struggle to find electricity and repair crews have their hands full. Rancho Brazos may remain closed until tomorrow.

But for one family there was a happy reunion. “They have actually found and recovered both of our dogs,” Eddie Parsons told CBS 11 News. Parsons and his family barely escaped with their lives and feared their dogs were lost. But Animal Control found the pets. And Precious and Nola are with family once again. “There are a few minor things, wounds, but I’m happy they’re alive,” adding, “They’re little creatures and I love them so much.”

Lost pets are reunited with their owners through Hood County Animal Control with generous help from NewsScope Marketing, which donated both a building and employees to help volunteers coordinate the reunions. Parsons wasn’t the only happy owner. “They’re like my babies, I’ve had this one since I was like 8 years old, and I wouldn’t know what to do if any of them got hurt,” Jessica Mullins says of her three small mixed breed dogs. Her mother says the home is gone, but the pets ease the hurt. “We had to leave the dogs in the bathroom and evacuate. And we just prayed that they were okay,” said Tammy Mullins.

All the found dogs are kept at NewScope; cats, birds, and other pets are at the Hood County shelter. Nearly 100 animals saved. “It’s an amazing feeling,” says Sherry Rose of Hood County Animal Control. “After all the hard work and hard stuff we went through in the beginning getting everything organized … when we reunite them it’s so worth it.”

The effort doesn’t need more volunteers but it can use pet food, leashes and the like. Lots of vets are donating services and vaccinations to make sure the animals go home as healthy as possible. People wanting to claim pets are asked to bring verification of ownership, if possible. Pictures are very helpful to make sure the right animal gets to its owner.

Dogs can be claimed at the NewScope office at 5845 Acton Circle in Granbury, which is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday ,May 19.  To claim a pet, you will need to describe the animal in detail and/or show a photo, and show your driver’s license. Photos of pets not claimed will be posted on the pet rescue website,  www.petfinder.com.  Cats, birds and other pets can be found at the Animal Control office at 240 Bray in Granbury.

“Even if there is a website and it’s using someone that is known, you want to follow up and check on that before you give, “ explained Jeannette Kopko of the Dallas Better Business Bureau.

Following the Boston Marathon bombing, Twitter shut down a questionable account. It promised a one dollar donation to followers who re-tweeted the message.

“We don’t know what the true purpose of the account was. It may have been data mining to gather information about twitter holders, “ said Kopko.

The earthquake in Haiti and the explosion in West have led to fake “donate by text” messages and bad “crowd funding” websites.

Kopko says the schemes are on-line and “on-foot.” Victims of the recent tornadoes now have to watch out for contractors come door to door to discuss repairs.

The BBB helped the I-Team compile a list of contractors with “F” ratings. Kopko says some of the complaints were filed after last year’s spring storms.

Lamb Roofing of Grand Prairie, J. Dalton Construction of Richardson (which now appears to be closed) and D & J Construction of Lancaster had the highest number of complaints. An office manager for D & J Construction told us, “We are working on those complaints.”

PLEASANT GROVE (CBSDFW.COM) – Updated: 6 p.m. The mother of a 1-year-old girl who died after she was left in a hot car was released from jail Saturday on a $50,000 bond.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner confirmed the toddler’s name is Victoria Marks. She was taken to Baylor Hospital by Dallas Fire and Rescue and pronounced dead Friday after being left in a car in the parking lot of Frank Guzick Elementary School.

Her mother, Vibha Marks, is a teacher at the school located in the 5000 block of Berridge Lane in Pleasant Grove.

The teacher’s aid broke the window of the car and attempted CPR after calling 911.

The 42-year-old mother of the deceased child started working at the school shortly after spring break. The tragic incident happened in the faculty parking lot, thus students didn’t see what happened. Some students did however see police on the scene.

Grief counselors will be available for the staff and others at the school on Monday.

A letter was sent home to parents after school stating that the police department responded to an incident at the school and that students and staff were safe at all times.

Authorities have arrested her on a child abandonment charge, according to Dallas police and DISD has placed her on administrative leave.

Texas Governor Rick Perry and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott tour tornado damaged Rancho Brazos Estates area in Granbury – Friday May 17, 2013

GRANBURY (AP) – Gov. Rick Perry says the tornado-wrought devastation in a North Texas neighborhood is almost incomprehensible.

Perry toured Granbury on Friday, two days after a tornado left six people dead in the city about 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said residents in the affected areas will be allowed to get belongings and begin cleaning up during daytime hours starting Saturday.

Granbury bore the brunt of the damage during the outbreak of 16 tornadoes in North Texas. In Granbury, much of the devastation occurred in the Rancho Brazos Estates.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott also was in Granbury and urged residents to be cautious of those who might try to scam them as they rebuild.

People who were missing in the wake of the destructive tornadoes in North Texas have been found safe, officials said Friday, but they didn’t indicate when residents of one hard-hit neighborhood will be allowed to return to survey damage to their homes.

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office said the death toll from the violent storm system Wednesday night remains at six and is unlikely to change. Authorities had said Thursday that as many as seven people were listed as missing, but everyone has now been accounted for.

Hood County sheriff’s spokesman Nathan Stringer said authorities were focusing Friday on a devastated neighborhood in Granbury known as Rancho Brazos Estates, where most of the homes were damaged or destroyed.

Stringer said it isn’t known when the community will be safe enough for people to return, but said an informational meeting for residents will be held Saturday morning. Granbury is 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

He said there are at least 100 workers who have descended on Rancho Brazos to restore water service, raise electrical lines and clear debris.

“I can’t see them being able to get anyone in the area,” Stringer said. “That area is utterly devastated. I was in there for a couple of hours and I didn’t see anything untouched. It was one big debris field.”

He added that the damage is so extensive that it’s unclear where roads begin and end.

Raul Rodriguez was at home Wednesday with his wife and three children when the storm hit.

“I looked out the window and thought, `It doesn’t look good,”‘ he said.

The 42-year-old auto mechanic has lived in Rancho Brazos for two years in a home built by volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. It was the first home Rodriguez has ever owned.

They took shelter in a hall closet. All he could hear above the storm’s din was the sound of every window in his home shattering. After the storm passed, they emerged to find his home damaged but still standing.

“I’m surprised. I can’t believe it. My wife was the first person out, and injured people, bloody people, started coming to our house, asking us to call 911,” he said.

Habitat for Humanity spent years in the subdivision, helping to build many of the 110 homes in the low-income area. But its work was largely undone during the outbreak of 16 tornadoes.

Granbury bore the brunt of the damage. The weather service said the preliminary storm estimate for the Granbury tornado was an EF-4, based on the Fujita tornado damage scale. An EF-5 is the most severe, but an EF-4 tornado has wind speeds of 166 to 200 mph.

Another tornado in nearby Cleburne cut a mile-wide path through part of the city Wednesday. The weather service said it was estimated as an EF-3, which has winds between 136 and 165 mph. No deaths or severe injuries were reported from that tornado.

In a unanimous vote with little discussion, the Senate voted Friday to continue the Texas Lottery for another 12 years. Last month, conservatives in the House led a charge to kill the lottery as an immoral tax on the poor.

House members ultimately defeated that effort, but will get another crack at the bill next week. The Senate changed the bill to require an audit of charitable bingo halls to make sure they are giving money to charity. That means the bill still needs House approval.

State lawmakers use about $2 billion from the lottery for education.

Republicans needed Democratic votes to set up the State Water Infrastructure Fund, but the minority party wanted to boost spending on public education by $4 billion. The Republican-controlled Legislature cut $5.4 billion from schools in 2011. Last year advocates for social services were calling on state lawmakers to reverse 2011 budget cuts since the state was showing signs of an early recovery from the recession.

In the deal, the state would add $3.4 billion to public education spending and put $530 million toward schools’ contribution to the Teacher Retirement System. All of the money would be in the Foundation School Program, and therefore exempt from a line item veto by Governor Rick Perry, according to the official. The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the official did not want to speak publicly until lawmakers have been briefed on the deal.

The deal is similar to one announced by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst late Thursday night. Conservative Republicans have complained the deal spends too much on schools, while Democrats wanted more.

Both chambers must still vote on the measure.

This is the biggest giveback to schools on the bargaining table at any point during this 140-day session, where time and money are running out. Lawmakers only have one full week remaining at the Capitol to make this deal and numbers work.

DALLAS (CBS 11) - Tonight is Late Nights at The Dallas Museum of Art. Its theme is based on their new exhibition “Body Beautiful In Ancient Greece: Masterworks From The British Museum.” Curator from the British Museum, Dr. Ian Jenkins shared with CBS 11 the concept of the exhibition.

“The Greek Body Beautiful is an exploration of humanity in the ancient world. The Greeks were intensely interested in the human condition.”

The exhibition includes more than 120 objects exploring the human form. Iconic marble and bronze sculptures, vessels and jewelry are among the treasures — some dating back to the second millennium B.C. There’s even a model of ancient Olympia as it would have appeared around 100 B.C.

Tonight at the DMA you will be transported to Mount Olympus at Late Nights. The event is free and for the whole family. Explore the heroes and great myths of ancient Greece. There will be art activities, films, performances and tons of fun. You can even dress like your favorite Greek hero.
